Harrison Dismisses Shiloh in three

There is a note to Class 5A volleyball teams. Don’t ever count Harrison out of a set.

Monday night stepping out of conference action, the Lady Goblins faced Shiloh Christian at the Spook House.

When the last ball was hit into the net, it was the Lady Goblins leaving the court with a 26-24, 25-15, 25-23 win.

In other action: The Harrison Junior Lady Goblins took a 25-12, 25-11 win over Shiloh Christian while the Lady Goblin junior varsity team won their game, 25-23, 25-23.

Harrison made three late comebacks to win the match in three sets.

In the third and final set, the Lady Goblins trailed, 10-0, before making their comeback.

The points for the Lady Goblins came from many different sources.

Jenna Martin was the first Harrison player to score. She had a kill to make it a 10-2 contest.

Shiloh Christian had moved ahead, 14-6, before Harrison made its first move.

Senior Jessica Pratt had back-to-back skills before Julianna Cramer and Brooklin Edwards had tips to make it a 14-10 contest.

Harrison pulled within a point at 16-15 after Cramer had a kill, Peyton Knight a kill and Edwards a tip.

The Lady Goblins remained within a point of Shiloh Christian as Edwards, Linsey Choate and Olivia Alford had kills.

Alford’s pulled Harrison within, 21-20.

Shiloh Christian scored again before Edwards had a kill and a tip to tie the contest.

The Lady Goblins took their first lead of the set at 23-22.

Edwards had a kill to make it a 24-23 contest. The final point came on a bad pass from the Lady Saints.

Harrison jumped to an early lead in the first set as five of their first six points came on offensive plays.

Edwards started it with a kill that was followed by a Cramer ace. Knight had back-to-back kills from the weak side before Pratt served up an ace to make it a 6-3 contest.

Shiloh Christian started to battle and moved ahead, 9-8.

Cramer tied the contest with a tip before Katelynn Grant gave Harrison a lead at 10-9 with an ace.

After watching Shiloh reel off three points, Harrison stopped the run with a backline kill from Alford.

The Lady Saints moved ahead, 17-13, and had the momentum on their side before a hitting error gave Harrison service possession.

Pratt made them pay. She served up four points and Martin added two kills as Harrison went on a 7-0 run.

Harrison moved ahead at 24-20 on a Pratt kill, but Shiloh Christian tied the set at 24.

Choate had an important block for Harrison that moved them back to set point. This time they were able to finish.

The second set was all Harrison after Shiloh had taken early four-point leads on three occasions.

Harrison took control and Izzy Gibbany served up an ace and then scored on a tip to finish the set.

Harrison was led by Edwards with eight kills and three tips. Pratt had six aces and four kills; Knight six kills; Martin five kills and a tip; Cramer four tips and one ace;

Choate one tip, block and kill; Alford two kills; Gibbany one tip and one ace and Grant one ace.

The Lady Goblins will celebrate Senior Night on Thursday as they face Farmington before getting ready for the 5A-West District Tournament.
