Goblins owned possession time, Morrilton wins

MORRILTON — The Harrison Goblins had the football longer than Morrilton in the first half.

Morrilton had more points than the Goblins.

Friday night at Devil Dog Stadium in Morrilton, the home team dismantled Harrison for a 48-7 win.

It was the first 5A-West game for both teams. Both squads have 3-1 records.

The Devil Dogs had the ball for only 10:05 of the first half, but they managed to score on five of their six possessions.

Scoring on their first attempt, Morrilton marched 62-yards on five plays in 1:56 of playing time. The Devil Dogs had a seven-play 56-yard drive next in 1:43.

Their final scoring drive of the opening period was a 57- yard touchdown drive that took six plays and 1:53.

Morrilton led 21-0 after the first period.
The Devil Dogs continued to score points in the second quarter on short drives. They scored on a 34-yard and 22-yard drive to make it 35-0 with 2:32 left in the half.

Harrison got their lone score of the game in the closing minute of the first half.

Noah Ditmanson hit Daniel McCormick for a 70-yard touchdown strike.

Micah Ford hit the PAT making the score, 35-7.

Morrilton ended the first half with 281 yards of total offense while Harrison netted 86 yards with 70 coming on the touchdown play.

The Devil Dogs added one score in the third period. They did not complete the point after attempt leaving the score at 41-7 heading into the final period.

With 8:13 left in the game, the Devil Dogs activated the Arkansas Good Sportsmanship rule as the held a 48-7 advantage.

Harrison is at home Friday as they host Clarksville. The Devil Dogs are on the road as they go to Greenbrier.

Both contests are conference games.
