EARLY RUN GIVE LADY GOBLINS BIG WIN

WILLARD, Mo. — Harrison started the Tri-State Classic in Willard, Mo. with a bang. The Lady Goblins played one of its best games on the way to a 75-57 dismantling of Willard. Just 6 seconds into the game, Brylie Parker hit a trey to start the contest for the Lady Goblins. advertisement Willard scored the next two fields to take a 4-3 lead. Marion Groberg scored at the 7:02 mark to end Willard’s advantage at only 10 seconds. Willard never led again. Groberg hit another basket that was followed by Caroline Cecil scoring on a second chance bucket. Parker ended an 8-0 Harrison run and the Lady Goblins led 11-4. The Lady Tigers used a 7-1 run to pull within a point as Harrison’s lone point came on a free throw from Kenzie Parker. Harrison answered the Willard run with an 8-0 run that included six points in the first period to make it an 18-11 contest after 8 minutes of play. Brylie Parker started the run for Harrison that was followed by a Cecil basket. Brynn Oleson ended the first period with a bucket that beat the buzzer. Makayla Campbell started Harrison’s scoring in the second frame. With 5:11 showing on the clock, the Lady Tigers had moved back within six points. Shayne Gilliam scored back-to-back baskets to put any thoughts of the Lady Tigers getting back into the game to rest. Sydney Shrum of Harrison drained a trey at the halfway point of the second period to give the Lady Goblins their largest lead of the night at that point, 29-16. A buzzer beater by Willard make it a 33-24 Harrison lead at halftime. Harrison strong armed Willard to start the second half. The Lady Goblins scored a 14-4 run to take a 47-28 lead. All five Lady Goblin starters scored during the streak with Shrum and Groberg knocking down four points each while Cecil, Kenzie Parker and Brylie Parker each scored. A Brylie Parker 3-pointer with 2 seconds left set the Harrison lead at 57-33 with only one period left to play. Six straight free throws by Willard allowed the Lady Tigers to get the lead under 20 points, but Brylie Parker scored and Shrum hit another trey to push it back over 20. A Cecil trey with 4:28 left gave Harrison its largest lead of the night at 67-41. The Lady Goblins played Friday night in Willard and again on Saturday. Harrison travels back to the Springfield, Mo. area next week as they participate in the Kickapoo Tournament that begins on Thursday night. Leading Harrison in scoring was Shrum and Brylie Parker with 18 points each. Groberg added 12, Cecil 11, Gilliam six, Kenzie Parker and MacKenzie Dillon three each and Campbell and Oleson two apiece.
