GOBLIN SOCCER BEGINS CONFERENCE PLAY

The Harrison Goblins and Lady Goblins were in action on the soccer fields this week. On Tuesday they traveled to Siloam Springs to face the Panthers and on Thursday the Cyclones of Russellville came to F.S. Garrison Stadium. The senior boys lost to Siloam Springs, 2-0, and were defeated by Russellville, 4-1. The senior girls lost to Siloam Springs, 3-1, but grabbed a win against Russellville, 3-1. Senior Boys The score was even at halftime of the Siloam Springs game, 0-0, but the Panthers scored a pair of goals in the second half to finalize the game, 2-0. The Goblins had 13 shots-on-goal, but couldn’t find the net. Rilee Jones had 14 saves on 16 shots in the contest. When Russellville came to town, the Goblins got behind early, 3-0 at halftime. The Cyclones scored two more goals in the second half, one of which was in the wrong net. The final score was 4-1. Jones had six saves on 10 shots. Harrison’s record moved to 4-5-4 and 0-2 in 6A/5A-1 play. Senior Girls The Lady Goblins managed to score one goal against Siloam Springs when Kaitlyn Pratt found Brylie Parker off of a freekick. The Panthers found the net three times in the contest, and Siloam Springs came away with the win, 3-1. Goalkeeper Makayla Campbell had four saves on seven shots. Thursday’s contest with Russellville ended on a positive note. Harrison’s Sydney Shrum scored in the first half off an assist from teammate Parker. The score was tied at intermission, 1-1. Parker had a corner kick in the second half and connected with Claire Doshier who found the net off a header. Grace Martin scored the final goal unassisted. With the 3-1 win, Harrison moved its record to 7-2-3 and 1-1 in conference. The Goblins and Lady Goblins have home games on Tuesday at F.S. Garrison Stadium. Start times are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
