HARRISON STAYS IN PLAYOFF RACE

MAUMELLE — After a two-game losing streak, it was imperative for the Harrison Goblins to pick up a football win Friday night. Harrison did exactly that. Facing Maumelle, the Goblins defeated the Hornets to move into a second place tie in the league race with only one game left in the regular season. The Goblins defeated Maumelle, 40-0. It was a steady dose of the running attack for Harrison. Getting the opening kickoff, Harrison's Gabe Huskey returned the ball to the Maumelle 22. Huskey ran the opening offensive play for no gain. Quarterback Noah Ditmanson carried the ball the next time. He picked up 20 yards to the 2. Ditmanson called his own number. He picked up the last 2 yards for a score. It took the Goblins only 36 seconds to score. Harrison's second touchdown of the first period came on a 3:43 drive. It took Harrison 10 plays to score. The touchdown came on a Huskey 4-yard run. Hunter Holtby hit both point after attempts to give the Goblins a 14-0 lead. Harrison's third scoring drive started in the first quarter with the points coming in the second. At the 9:57 mark of the second, Huskey found the end zone again on a 4 yard romp. The Goblins had one more first half touchdown in the works. After a bad Hornet punt, the Goblins took over on their own 36 yard line. A critical third down play came up short for Harrison, but a personal foul penalty was called against Maumelle. With the additional yardage, the Goblins had the ball on the Maumelle 14. Attempting to move the ball with the Wildgob, Huskey lost 7 yards on the play. The ball was sitting on the 21 for two plays. Ditmanson took the third down snap and scrambled looking for an open receiver. The senior threaded the needle against two Hornet defenders to find Daniel McCormick in the back of the end zone. McCormick made the catch with 35 seconds left in the half. Holtby made it a 27-0 game at halftime with a point after attempt. In the second half, Huskey scored a short run. The two-point pass attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the Goblins leading, 33-0. Early in the fourth quarter, Ditmanson intercepted a pass, and two plays later, Mason Martin ran the ball home. Holtby set the score at 40-0.
