GOBLINS PULL AWAY IN SECOND HALF OVER MOUNTAIN HOME

Friday night, the Harrison Goblins opened the season against arch rival Mountain Home, when the game was over, Harrison had rolled up its fifth straight victory over the Bombers. The Goblins won the contest, 27-7. Harrison was able to score twice in a 26 second span to put the game away. “Thailer Lovell had the play of the game,” said Harrison coach Joel Wells. That play was a short kick by Harrison that Lovell recovered on the Mountain Home 23 yard line. It took the Goblins three plays to score their third touchdown of the game. “I really felt like the game was over when we punched that one in,” said Wells. Harrison went into the lockerroom at halftime with a 7-0 lead. Mountain Home tied the game midway through the third period before the two Goblin scores. “We had a good return by Caleb Huskey that got the ball out over the 50,” said Wells. “They were trying to keep the ball away from our return guys, but Huskey did a good job.” Wells was pleased with his team’s first game effort. “I thought we played extremely hard,” he said. “We obviously played well on defense. Offensively, we had some dropped ball and a few overthrows. It was a good first game.” Even with the win, Wells had some points that he needed to make. “We still have to improve,” he said. “We have a tough schedule. We have to get better.” Quarterback Noah Ditmanson was 8-of-19 throwing the football. He had 180 yards and two touchdowns. “Cameron Jones had a good game,” said Wells. Jones caught four passes for 119 yards. Daniel McCormick had two catches for 53 yards and one touchdown. Huskey and Colton Shaver each had a catch for 4 yards. Shaver’s was the first score of the game. Gabe Huskey had 13 rushes for 58 yards and a touchdown for Harrison. Ditmanson had 10 rushes for 35 yards and a touchdown. Mason Martin had one carry for 10 yards. Harrison opens its home season Friday. The Goblins play Siloam Springs in a 7 p.m. kick at F.S. Garrison Stadium.
